About benconklin.me

Hi there! Welcome to my website. I use this site to share ideas and resources around the applications of GEOINT and OSINT. I have 20+ years of experience in Intelligence with a focus on GIS. I am now working as the Head of New Product Innovation for Jane’s, the trusted global agency for open-source defense intelligence. I am applying my experience in GIS and product development to build interconnected solutions for intelligence.

My goal is to organize and integrate complex information using time, space, and explicit relationships. This helps to resolved unknowns, reduce uncertainty and improves decision-making. I hope that you find the information I share useful as you pursue your career and try to make a difference in your agency, command, or organization. Unfortunately, I feel like I can't connect enough in person with all of you, so I am hoping that we can connect through this blog or deepen our connection beyond the trade-show or presentation where we might have connected.

If you are visiting this site, you probably know about my job at Esri, Janes or in the Marine Corps. If not, check out my bio.

If you want to stay up to date on all my writing, follow my blog.

Official Disclaimer: This website is where I share my personal views and opinions. I write and present on behalf of Janes regularly. If you want to see Jane’s official view on any of these topics please visit janes.com

In addition, my content for GIS applications was developed while I was working with an amazing team at Esri. If you want to see what they are doing please visit esri.com/intelligence.

Another Official Disclaimer: The content on this website is in keeping with all applicable laws and regulations. Since I talk about Military and Intelligence Topics, I have to take extra care to make sure that is the case. Please visit my methods page if you want to know more about how I ensure that. Additionally, many of these ideas I am describing come from the great work of doctrine writers, professional leaders, and just awesome people I get to meet daily. I do my best to give them credit here.

Thanks for visiting. Feel free to drop me an email at bconklin@esri.com at any time.
